Planning a Theme Wedding

One of the biggest challenges of planning a wedding is the budget. Having a theme wedding can actually help you keep to your budget, for one very simple reason, the choices you have are limited only to those items and colors that fit your theme.

Once you decide on a theme, then you need to find items and colors that will help you bring it all together. Suggestions for a theme wedding are;

Butterfly Themed Wedding - For this theme, the Bride and her bridesmaids can carry bouquets of wild flowers, insert butterfly picks for a fun and unique arrangement. Attach butterfly pins to the groom and groomsmen's bouttonnieres. You can have butterfly patches sewn in stratigic places on the bride's gown and bridesmaid's dresses, make sure they are the same color and that they compliment your wedding colors. There are many different butterfly designs for invitations, programs and thank you cards to fit this theme. Consider having the ceremony and reception at mid-day or early afternoon. A Zoo, Botanical Garden or Park are great venues. For your centerpieces or the bouquets you can use flowers that attract butterflies, like: Phlox, Lilacs, Honeysuckle and Aster. For the reception, you can use butterfly place-card holders, flower arrangements for centerpieces, or you can name your tables for a specific butterfly and decorate each table according to the butterfly colors and favorite flower. For favors, have butterfly shaped cookie cutters and/or cookies, or buttefly candy wrappers.

If you love the ocean, then you might consider a Beach Themed Wedding. For this type of wedding, consider

light fabrics for your gown, maybe mid-calf in length. Instead of a veil, a crown made of flowers or a large brimmed sun hat. Wear pearls for jewelry or maybe leis. Think of sunsets, sailboats, tropical island and such for a beach themed wedding invitation. Of course the perfect location will be the beach, but you can also have your wedding ceremony and reception at a resort, on a lakeside or a yacht club. Ask your florist for flower suggestions, some ideas are: Lilys, Carnations and Violets. The Wedding Cake should feature a beach theme. Seashells and Sand Dollars can be use as decorations. Rent white chairs for your guest to sit in. If having an evening reception, fireworks make an amazing sight. Sand Dollar shaped cookies or seashell shaped chocolates make great favors, you may also consider a message in a bottle type of favor.

Other great theme ideas for your wedding are;

Valentine's Day
Cinderella
Beauty and the Beast
Halloween
Winter Wonderland
Black and White (for a themed based on colors)
Autumn
Victorian
Reinassance

Not all weddings are alike, a theme wedding is the perfect chance for the couple to infuse their wedding with personality and fun, it is also a great chance to have your guest be active participants in the celebration.

When choosing a theme, choose things that make you happy or have a special significance for you and your future spouse. Remember that candles, luminaries and balloons are great cost effective ways for decorating and can be made to fit almost any theme.
