The golden years may actually become years of sadness, worthlessness, depression, and loneliness, UNLESS you do something about it. Take a look at these ideas. You might just find the key to truly make your golden years golden.

1. Get involved in a volunteer activity.

2. Babysit your grandkids.

Seniors and young children are a magical combination. Treat yourself to the joy of viewing the world through the wonderment of a child’s eyes. 3. Take an art class at a local community college.

Community colleges or adult education programs are a great place to find affordable classes on a variety of interesting topics.

5. Be a part of the block watch committee in your neighborhood.

6. Become active in your church.

Spirituality, becoming clear on your views of God, discovering the meaning of life, and other deep esoteric questions become increasing important as one comes to terms with ones own mortality. 7. Support your favorite politician.

You have opinions on politics. Why not find a person or party and embodies your views and become a political supporter? It will be a great opportunity to meet other like-minded individuals.

8. Start your own home-based business.

A home-based business may be just the ticket for you. You may get a home-office tax deduction (verify with your accountant), be able to work your own hours, and make a little extra spending money.

9. Start writing articles and submitting them to your favorite magazines.
