Cultural Immersion: The experience of living in another
culture is dramatic. EduKick believes that exposing young people
to foreign cultures will accelerate personal growth and inspire
them to reach their full potential. Players live the day-to-day
experience of the foreign culture; from the language spoken, to
foods they eat, music they listen to, and programs they watch on
TV. The EduKick youth will have each of their six senses on
alert; everything will be new and exciting, like nothing they
have ever seen before.
Language Immersion Program: EduKick players will attend 2
hours of language instruction each day. Classes are held at an
affiliated Language Academy in the host city. Language
curriculum concentrates on conversational skill-building and
situational learning. The academic language element of the
EduKick experience is not limited to the classroom...the real
language lesson will be the experience of living in a foreign
country, eating, drinking, sleeping, and playing in the chosen
country's culture.
The afternoon soccer training sessions will also be conducted in
the native language. Although bilingual coaches are being used,
the focus of the entire trip is language immersion, therefore,
the native language will be used whenever possible.
EduKick Abroad: In the program, it is the time abroad,
being independent and away from family that brings about
individual growth. Most EduKick youth will not have traveled
abroad before, while others will have traveled but only with
their parents. And, of course, some will be seasoned travelers.
Those of us who have traveled out of our native country
understand that the experience somehow gives us a
broader
outlook on life. Time spent in environments abroad enlightens
us, and inspires us to try other new things (like learning new
languages). This is especially true for teenagers. The
experience of flying alone to JFK Airport in New York City to
meet the rest of the EduKick Team will be a bit of a culture
shock in itself. Landing in a foreign country for the first time
is an amazing thing, inherently exciting, especially when your
arrival to the foreign city is as part of a TEAM...The EduKick
Team!
Professional Soccer Training: Players attend 2-3 hour
training sessions daily. EduKick is affiliated with professional
soccer clubs, schools and academies. Foreign coaches are FIFA
(Federation International Futbol Association) licensed and are
former professional players. EduKick youth are exposed to
high-level international soccer training that is designed to be
intense but fun and educational. Scrimmages are organized daily
and when possible "friendly matches" are arranged between
EduKick youth and their foreign peers. EduKick has arranged for
several professional players to make special appearances and to
speak with the EduKick youth. Again, the daily soccer training
is conducted in the native language so that the opportunity for
EduKick youth to learn through immersion is maximized.
EduKick Education: EduKick is associated with
international partners, both in language and soccer, who
understand the EduKick philosophy and who are established,
qualified professionals with extensive experience in education
and youth programs. EduKick is committed to providing the
highest level of cultural, language, and soccer education and
service possible to make this time abroad an unforgettable
experience for the participating youth. In the end, the
relationships that the EduKick youth create with their foreign
friends and their fellow EduKick team members from around the
world, will be the most rewarding and educational aspect of
their trip.
